I usually drink long island teas... I don't care if you think it's girly.  It's like 5 shots of liquor with a spritz of coke and some sour... for like $4 for a 12oz glass you can get f**king blasted for cheap.

I love long islands!  That and a good whisky and Diet.

When it comes to alcoholic drinks I only really like apéritifs and digestifs.  Is that girly, manly, or just weird?

I find it difficult to explain to my room mate who does not drink that a Long Island Iced Tea, does indeed taste like some kind of alcoholic iced tea, despite not containing any normal iced tea ingredients.

I don't really think of anything but 3.2 beer and mixed drinks that only women order as girly drinks.

It should be a crime to drink 3.2 "beer".

Never heard this suggested before. Isn't more of an old-and-bourgeois drink?

People, GT is a universal drink. While it's true that it might be somewhat more common among old people or women it's just a really, really common drink.

It's like saying white wine is girly because women prefer wine more often than men do.

Many of my young male friends drinks GT all the time.

I suppose it's because it makes it possible to drink large amounts of something that tastes of gin, without actually drinking large amounts of gin.

That's because gin, like most liquor used in drinks, doesn't taste good on its own.

Besides, a gin and tonic would still hold about as much alcohol as a beer.

I guess the hangover thing might speak to its girliness though.

Talking of gin, I wonder how long it is before someone tries bringing back Gin Palaces here, now that alcohol laws are no longer that strict? It could be sold as a historical experience or something. Heritage alcoholism and liver abuse.

It's a rich person's drink moreso than anything else.

Not really - it tastes more like lemonade than iced tea.
