On the other hand, I do think Kevin is right when he talks about robot supporters. Both parties have a base that is very unlikely to shift. Call it a built-in affinity. The longer a group consistently supports one party, the harder it will be to flip that group.

Blacks will probably overwhelmingly vote for Democrats for a long time, regardless of the party's actual policies. Just as southern whites will vote for the GOP.

The types of people who are more reliable in their support are moving to California. Thus, it's becoming further and further out of reach for Republicans.
