Correct if I'm wrong, but special elections and referendum elections are now counted.

I'll need to delay my update of the Census rolls for a day or two. I must first attend to the defense of my office and department in the Supreme Court. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Well, I have kept my word. Having been found by the Supreme Court to have unconstitutionally deregistered more than 10% of the Atlasian voter list, I resigned just a moment ago as a way of apologizing for my actions, and I do not intend to return to the post for the foreseeable future.

Goddammit. Besides making Atlasia worse off, what purpose did that lawsuit serve? Now we will just sit around and wait for those voters to miss yet another election and then get deregistered. And well be down our SoFE.

I meant registrar general. Sorry, I'm pretty pissed at the moment that this lawsuit was ever brought.

Well, after reading that ruling I'm not sure what power the registrar does have, if any. Whoever takes it should have a lot of questions before proceeding.

The RG's power is to follow the law as clarified by the Court and deregister voters providing A) a six month period has elapsed and B) three federal elections have been missed. I'm very disappointed that Homely is resigning over this particularly since all three of us knew that he had only the best of intentions in following the law as he interpreted it but I think the ruling makes it clear that the discretion available to the office of RG is very limited, particularly when it comes to something as significant as removing voters.

So instead of directing your RG to follow what the Constitution says, you're pissed at me for bringing a lawsuit to force actual enforcement of the Constitution?  I don't like that homely resigned either, but the blame for this is in no way on me.  I gave homely ample time to change his stance on this.  He's your RG; you could've directed him to take different action.

Don't shoot the messenger. While it is very unfortunate that RG homeycooking has decided to resign over this, Inks and shua deserve our praise for having spotted a constitutional problem that no one else has noticed.

I'm sorry to see you go as RG, homely.  In spite of the disagreement over the deregistrations, you've done an an excellent job.

Would have PM'ing all the people who were deregistered have taken more time than writing up a whole case? Maybe you and Shua could have split the workload.

You mean to do that after every election that ever happens again, going through the voting history of each person to see whether they were legitimately deregistered or not?  Yes, that's quite a time commitment.
