Not surprising, albeit confusing. A lot of that happened in the eastern counties - even Spokane, where Nethercutt comes from.

I think she's been living in Thurston County for a while, but thats probably because shes been working there. I think she is originally from Auburn, which is in South King County.

Rossi lives in Sammamish which is in the Eastside suburbs of King County. I doubt he's always lived there, he probably grew up somewhere else in the Puget Sound area.

Rossi lived in Seattle when he was growing up and moved to Sammamish. Poor Jesus.

He first ran for state senate in 1992 and lost. In 1996, he won with 53% of the vote in his district, which includes the eastside of the Seattle metro and rural areas. In 2000, he won re-election with 70% of the vote. This didn't translate well into gubernatorial results, of course. King County simply doesn't vote for Republican for any office that out-of-state people would know the name of.

Gregoire was born in Adrian, Michigan, but after her mother divorced her abusive husband, she moved to Auburn. She later moved to Olympia and attended university. After that, she got a job in the attorney general's office in Spokane. She was later deputy attorney general, and moved back to Olympia, where she now lives.
