I'm confused, I thought all "combat troops" were already out of Iraq? Do the 150 left behind temporarily at Camp Anaconda not count as troop-troops?

150 troops? Diplomats can make sales, and theres no point in keeping such a small force in the country. 3rd Bush term?  This news isn't exaclt "Mission Accomplished" in the Bush sense, it really means it!

And Romney of course opposes it.

In other news, Republicans just announced their 2012 campaign song.

Just like he opposes imaginary Obama military spending 'cuts.' I have to admit I'm somewhat more scared of the Republicans running than the One at this point... If only because they seem even more determined to drive us further off the cliff.

Typical Obama; thousands of U.S. jobs being handed over to foreigners... who we were at war with less than a decade ago!

Why are we putting up with sending private security forces in Iraq? Why doesn't he withdraw all troops from Afghanistan?

How about Korea, Japan, and Germany?

WWII has been over for a long time, and the Korean War is all but skirmishes not involving US forces.

It's great that for once Obama hasn't flip-flopped to the right on an issue, but he is simply following through on an agreement that Bush signed in 2008.

I like how Sen. Levin gave President Bush credit for announcing this troop withdrawal and credit to President Obama for following through with Bush's recommendation.  It's also props to the US forces in Iraq that they have been able to keep the country under relative control over the past year or so.  Now, the United States Military can focus efforts on trying to bring troops home in Afghanistan and have more boots ready if we do have to go into places like Somalia, the Sudan, Iran, Bahrain, Yemen, or other trouble spots.  If we were still largely in Iraq and had to go into one of these situations that, undoubtedly, the Defense and State Departments are monitoring closely, we would be stretching an already thin military even thinner almost to the point of breaking.  Its like when you stretch a piece of elastic out too far, there are holes that begin forming in the middle.

Peace with honor! Hmm, where did that come from...

Seriously, this is literally the worst move Obama has made since he has become President. He has in a matter of a few months put nearly 9 years of hard-won gains in jeopardy.

Both the military and the Iraqis basically agreed that 20,000 troops were needed to maintain stability. But he and his team bungled the negotiations, undercutting themselves by saying only 3,000 would be kept and then putting the Iraqis on the spot by demanding an upfront vote on troop immunity.

I'm not sure if Obama & co. did this deliberately in order to claim credit for "ending the war", or if he was just incompetent. Sadly, both views are equally plausible.

Hopefully, South Vietnam, er, Iraq will be able to handle itself on its own. If it doesn't... let's just try not to think about that.

Our current Major War Scorecard:

7-1-2-2
(Wins, Losses, Ties, Pending)

Where should Iraq go now that it's over?

I would put it either as Win or Pending.  We definitely did not lose it, and I don't think we tied, so I would put as pending with an eventual win.

The reason I say Pending is I don't think a war can really be judged until years after the last combat troops leave the country.  I would say no earlier than 2015-2020 time period will we know the full measure of Iraq.

Actually, America lost all those wars.

It is amusing that DINO Bush-clone Obama adopted Bush's exit date.

Well, Gaddafi's dead, but Saddam and Osama are dead too and their wars are still going on, so who knows? I'll just edit it so Libya is in the "pending" catagory.
