One of the great liberals of the last 50 years; it's a pity he was done in by Vietnam, when his support was the right position to take.

Why is it that everytime I start having a heterosexual mancrush on you you say the most weirdest things?

FF, though his position on Vietnam was wrong (Mainly because he didn't have the courage to oppose administration policy).  Civil rights and control on nuclear/military arms were positions Humphrey excelled at.

One of my favorites ever.

He was in a tough position on Vietnam and I would have disagreed with him, but I understand why he publicly supported the war.

The current Democratic Party needs more HHHs and Scoop Jacksons, and less Obamas and Kerrys.

Why would the dems need neo-cons like Scoop Jackson back into the party when they murder the Republican Party?

Hunter S. Thompson was an ass.  A pathetic man more interested in playing the role of an iconoclast than actually reporting the truth.

False. Hunter s Thompson was one of America greatest men to cover behind the lines in Washington. And he reported the truth about sh**theads like Nixon.

Quoi?

Now, I wouldn't vote for Humphrey, most likely, but I don't consider him a HP and you know that.

Of course, of the presidential candidates who received electoral votes in 1968, George Wallace is the only one any halfway moral person could vote for in hindsight.

Which is of course why I'm not a moral person because I would've voted for Humphrey and Nixon or even Henning Blomen before Wallace.
