Of course, of the presidential candidates who received electoral votes in 1968, George Wallace is the only one any halfway moral person could vote for in hindsight.

Well, I see that other people are quite in favor of napalming a few million Vietnamese children, which I personally think rather pales in comparison to any conceivable domestic issue, but then I'm an amoral sociopath like that.

September 30th, 1968.

While the Vietnamese children who were getting napalmed by the million would have been no doubt heartened by Humphrey's announcement that he would not continue napalming them if the war were to end, I suspect that they still would've gone for the candidate promising immediate withdrawal if they were given a vote.

So, a man whose running-mate wanted to turn Vietnam back into stone ages and who made his national career on preaching racial hatred was morally superior among three major candidates?

Very libertarian approachment, wormy.

You see, I'm of that crazy point of view that saving millions of people, mostly civilians, from horrible deaths including mass murder by immolation, is more important than choosing someone who is the least racist or who had the most well-conceived running mate.  But then I'm just some crazy nut, what do I know?
