There where rumours back in 2001/02 that Clark was looking to run for Governor in Arkansas or perhaps even Senator, as I see it, it’s still possible that he may be looking to run for some elected office and so could it be that he will run for Governor in Arkansas? And if so would he win?

My own view, the fact that he went for the Dem nomination will hurt him on a number of levels, most obviously because he will have had to run further to the left than he probably ever was in the first place, and the GOP will be quick to exploit that. But even taking that into account he could be a credible and competive candidate.

He might, I like the idea of him running. I think he could win. Asa Hutichson might also run for Governor.

He could.  Arkansas isn't as Conservative as the other soutern states, so the fact he ran may not be as much as a problem for him as it would be if he was from Alama, Miss, oklahoma or Texas

It looks as though the GOP primary is going to be very, very nasty, BTW...

He has a credible shot at Governor, are there any serious Democratic Challengers?

Should have thought so except the Governor and one (or is it two?) of the congressmen it solidly Democratic as far as state representatives go... kinda like WV in a way.

The real race is going to be the likely Republican primary battle between Lt. Governor Win Rockefeller and Asa Hutchinson.  If Clark dosen't run I think the Democratic nominee will be At. General Mike Beebe, because Mike Ross the very popular congressman, has decided to not run for Governor.

As far as Wesley Clark, I think the political experience he gained during the Presidential run really will help him in the Governor's race, he stands a good chance at winning.  I really think he is best qualified as President, though, probably was the most qualified out of the candidates back in 2004.

I agree.  Going from Supreme Allied Commander of Nato to Governor is a pretty big step down if you ask me.  Still, I think if he wants to have any legitmate chance of becomming President he must first hold some type of elective office.

Wow, my first real post was in this thread... it feels so long ago:) I stand behind my previous comment, although I think that Rockefeller would hold a small advantage if he was the GOP candidate.

I talked to the former gubernatorial candidate, Jimmie Lou Fisher about a year ago.  She told me that Clark wasn't going to run, Winn Rock will run, and Mike Beebe will run.  If Clark DID run against WinnRock, it would be very close.  As for anyone else, Clark would win in a landslide!
