I think by south he means more like Alabama, Tennessee, etc.

Who are they going to run?  There simply aren't any high profile Democrats down there any more except Bill Nelson.

Phil Bredesen, Governor of Tennessee. Mike Easley, Governor of North Carolina. Maybe at some point Senator Mark Pryor of Arkansas, but he's inexperienced.

They may not be high-profile, but was Howard Dean high-profile in 2002?
