I'm hearing it was over irreconcilable differences...

It should be ended, but replaced by some greater amount of spending targeted to the same group - for example some kind of buyout of farmers plus special pensions in order to get them off the land and perhaps retired in Florida.

Just because I want to send a lot of old bastards to Florida doesn't mean I'm a Florida booster, or that I like Florida, KP.  I just as soon send them to hell if it weren't for the lack of a Keynesian effect from the pensions there.

BRTD and opebo disagrees on Libya, but that isn't a problem in their relationship./

Oh, Phil, love isn't about political agreement. I dated very right-wing girl once, and the reasons she broke up with me were my horrible manners.

Believe me, I know. I was in the same boat. But we know how BRTD is...

All right, that's a very valid point.

But you hate the state. You can like someone from the state but can't imagine you'd support forcing people to live there.

opebo explained his reasoning above. Besides it's not like they'd be forced to live in Florida. It's just that too many people retire there (which is part of the reason it sucks.)

BRTD, I know you obsess over the fact that some people wrongly capitalize the "o" in opebo but you know you have to capitalize it when you begin a sentence, right?

Well there is never any excuse for poor manners, Kalwedgy.  A gentlemen always makes a situation better and more pleasant for those around him, never worse.

I was advising the lad, Gustaf - there's a difference.  His actions made him 'not a gentleman', and alienated the affections of the young lady, so perhaps they were less than optimal strategies.  Anyway tact is not a 'morality' and morality is often tactless as we have seen with our dear departed jmfcst.

Saying that there is never an excuse for poor manners sounds awfully dogmatic to me. Surely, that must be up to him? And if a woman places demands on your behaviour she's being a bit uppity anyway, isn't she? Why accept that when you can rent more docile ones instead, right?

Apples and oranges, Gustaf.  And if you think that prostitutes put up with more than wives or girlfriends do, you don't understand human relationships very well.
