Haha, what's up with this "but he's only a poor whittle troll" defense? Considering his actions on Atlasia (which go beyond trolling, I don't see how it doesn't) it's quite obviously he's a sociopath. But a sociopath who is also a troll. Good to know Mecha.

Maybe a successful troll, but not successful in emulating Libertas.
Libertas wasn't a troll, he was sincere.  He was just impassioned about his argument and had a consistent history of attitude and behavioral patterns.  Therefore I conclude he wasn't a troll.

This Wormyguy has created his own persona, one different from the Catholic somewhat bigoted libertarian Libertas (Libertas would probably have issue with Wormyguy's pro-choice views) but similar in his approach to arguing and the purity of his views compared to others.

That is my analysis.

I greatly prefer "Regional Protection Party" to the "Progressive Conservative Party".  I mean seriously his whole "Progressive Conservative" spiel was so obnoxious and annoying, not to mention his whole hearted defense of Protectionism.  I bet the man would've defended Smoot-Hawley if anyone ever started a thread on it.
I will admit that Hamilton himself before he was banned wasn't really that awful.  Yeah, he was an enormous hypocrite for claiming to defend free speech while reporting those of us who dared to use the horrible word "retarded".  I still find it hilarious to this day when he used the claimer "I respect free speech and all but making fun of people who can't help what they are....that isn't free speech" or something to that effect.  I mean really by that logic he might as well have been a wholehearted defender of the "politically correct liberals" he bashed before then because racist hillbillies make fun of blacks because "they can't change what they are".  I mean it's extremely retarded logic.
Truth be told his original persona was actually quite a bit more pleasant than any of his socks.  It was just that before he went into sockhood he was good at manipulating people to his advantage.  The only real successful sock that I've seen from him was segwaystyle, a pretty impressive sock actually.  In fact I actually believed that segwaystyle was a real poster at one point and defended him against people who said otherwise.  It wasn't until he was banned for sockdom that I finally bought the truth.
With all of that said I consider Libertas to be a way better poster than Hamilton was.  Libertas was, for his abrasiveness, at least an honest person who had good intentions.  And I at least respected Libertas, something I didn't really have for Hamilton.  The only reason why I held out for as long as I did on Hamilton was because he had enough influence in Atlasia at the time he was beginning to be found out (around November or so) that if I outright opposed him he would've turned his considerable bulk of supporters against me.  Turns out he did manage to do a lot of damage to me, as a lot of the libertarian-right wing (or at least the infant Populares Party) had a negative opinion of me in early 2010.  Though to be honest, my anger problems at the time might've had something to do with it as well.
I do believe that time has vindicated me and others.

You are right that Hamilton was a really pleasant fellow. Probably why he could manipulate so many people. As for the forum, I definitely think Atlasia is better off with Hamilton gone. But Libertas made some discussions completely unreadable, which combined with his attitude and martyrdom complex made him an extremely annoying individual.

Fortunately, his real personality is much much better than what can be seen on the forum.  It doesn't surprise me that everyone who has made an effort to talk to him outside of the forum likes him.

That makes no sense. If someone acts like sh*t in the forum, I don't know why anyone should "make an effort" to know him better.

Meh, he's putting on a "troll act" and we were just too slow to catch onto it.
I mean his apology really did seem sincere (at the time) and after hearing firsthand testimony from Snowguy (who I consider to be a pretty darned honest person) I have to say that I'm becoming more and more convinced that Worms is merely playing an exaggerated character on this stage known as the "Atlas Forum" (like most of us really).
After all, somebody gets a lot more responses when they take up an abrasive act than if they act like too nice and courteous and only go as far as to "respectfully disagree" with posters they don't see eye to eye with.
I mean really, just look at Wormyguy's posting history: he wasn't always like this super abrasive guy who was an extreme Scotsman.  Hell, I remember him defending Bob Barr at one time against Libertas!  I think he might've even been undecided between pulling for Lincoln Chafee and the Republican guy in the Rhode Island Gubernatorial election!  Or calling a quote where SPC posted a link to the "Free Market Healthcare plan" as "retarded"!
What's more?  He used to have a pleasant demeanor and wasn't as disagreeable back then!  In fact he kind of reminded me of myself when I first got onto this forum!
I can't really think of any other real explanation for his sudden change in attitude and temperament towards others on this forum other than that he saw how much more attention Libertas got just by being disagreeable and thus modified his behavior accordingly.
That is my two cents, and I got to congratulate Wormyguy on keeping this act up for so long.  Man, you really had me all the way dude.  In fact, just in honor of your great skills at pulling the "troll act" on us all man I'm changing my vote to Freedom Fighter.

     His act is rather repetitive, though. The best trolls are people like Straha & Van Der Blub; coy characters who say nothing but whatever is calculated to offend the most. This is particularly true on a forum, where it's easy to get large numbers of otherwise unconnected people involved in one incident. Van Der Blub's comment supporting rape was probably the single greatest trolling incident this forum has seen.

We had out fair share of fights in Atlasia... but he's nowhere near as objectionable outside of it. I think his logic is polluted and world-view is ideologically skewed to a major extreme... but he can be considered and reasonable when he wants to be.
