Gustaf and I are locating on opposite sides of the US.  It is better that way.

I had the exact same thought, actually.

I'd like to preface by saying that I appreciate Marokai's support.

1 in North Dakota
1 in Nebraska
1 in Maine

Attack Maine->New Hampshire
->Massachusetts
->Connecticut
->New York

Then end turn. Stop and await further orders if I get to below 3 attacking.

Gustaf!    I thought we were going to try to get along this time!  This aggression will not stand, man!

This is me trying my hardest. Tongue

But since no one else seems interested in being anything other than doormats for you, I thought I'd give you a wee bit of a challenge at least. Tongue

Put everything in North Dakota and attack Montana as long as I have 3 attacking. Then await further orders.

Aw. Can't help the urge to attack Mikado in this game, either? Tongue

I couldn't help my urge to attack him if we met in real life. Wink

No, but I don't see anyone else stepping up to stop him from taking over the Plains so I'm going to make it a bit of a battle for him at least.

Reinforcements

All 3 battalions have been deployed in North Dakota, where there are now 5 in total.

Attacks

North Dakota invades Montana (The Mikado) with 4 battalions available to attack, while 1 battalion will defend.

Gustaf [4] rolls 3 dice:   [6] [5] [1]
The Mikado [1] rolls 1 die:   [4]
The Mikado loses 1 battalion

Gustaf conquers Montana and places 4 battalions there, leaving 1 behind in North Dakota.

----------

Awaiting further instructions

Provisional map

I thought I had 6 battalions?

Joe is always trying to steal troops from me. Sad

Assuming that I do have all of these troops that I think I have, attack Idaho as long as I have 3 attacking and then await further orders.

Ah, damn it. Move 1 from Montana to North Dakota and end turn.

Mikado, wanna be friends?

"Revenge, revenge, revenge!"  Timotheus cries.
"Revenge!" Timotheus cries.
"Revenge!  Revenge!"
"Revenge!" Timotheus cries.
"See the Furies arise!
See the snakes that they wield!
How they hiss in their hair!
And the sparkles that flash in their eyes!"

"These are Grecian ghosts that in battle were slain
And unburied remain inglorious on the plain."

"Revenge!"  Timotheus cries.
"Revenge!  Revenge!"

Should I take that as a no then?

OK, I'd like them all in West Virginia. Attack WV-->Maryland as long as I have 3 attacking. If successful, move everything into Maryland and end turn. If not, await further orders.

Smart moves for both Gustaf and Lewis. This is very very interesting. Numerically it seems Lewis is the strongest, but he's not in the best position to maintain that strength considering he's sort of right in the middle of things. Eventually he's going to have to fight two people at the same time, and with Gustaf being so easily fortified, I still have to see Gustaf as the favorite, but if he doesn't move aggressively soon, that good position he has in the corner isn't going to help for very long.

(Though if someone doesn't break Lewis' bonus soon, he's going to rack up numbers fast.)

I was surprised no one did. I had promised not to and said as much to the other players. It is, of course, looking very much like a repeat of Bacon King's performance.

Ok, sorry I've fallen behind but I've been contemplating the right move for some time now. And it's been damn hard. Put everything in West Virginia and attack WV-DE-NJ-PA do or die. Then move all survivors to NY and end turn.

Oh, gee, I'm being an idiot. I was distracted writing that. I meant in Maryland, of course. Put everything in Maryland and attack from Maryland to Delaware-NJ-PA

Bacon King's situation is interesting. He can't be certain of being able to wipe anyone out. Mikado basically took himself and Teddy out of it. He could attack me, but I'm locked in so if that fails he's only opened himself up to my New York armies. And, of course, Lewis has the Midwest bonus. And it seems unlikely that he can both remove the Midwest bonus from Lewis and the New England one from me.

Well, well, well. I'd like everyone in Nebraska. Then attack Nebraska->Kansas, do or die. Then await further negotiation...

EDIT: that's it, actually. End turn after having collected a card.

What is Gustaf planning on doing with those 21 armies in New York?  Is he waiting for either Lewis and/or Bacon King to come to them?

Well, it was a tradeoff between defense and offense. Since everyone is trying to ensure a Bacon King win and I can't take him on by myself anyway I'm waiting for second place. Tongue

So, I'd like to trade in this set:

That should give me an additional 6 (+ 2 in Delaware).

Thus, 13 to place freely. I would like all of those in Kansas. Then attack Kansas->Oklahoma, do or die. Then follow that by attacking Arkansas from Oklahoma. Stop if the number of armies between the two states become equal. If I win put an euqal number in both states, if there is an odd number put the extra in Arkansas. Tactical move 2 armies from Delaware to Maryland.

I hope the dice gods realize that Bacon King is evil.

Why didn't Gustaf take Mississippi and rob BK of his Southeast bonus?

Because, hopefully, that's what Lewis will take care of now.

Sorry for the delay everyone. I've been sailing and then in Berlin with internet access only during brief periods.

So...put 2 in West Virginia and the rest in Oklahoma. Attack Oklahoma->Arkansas as long as I have more than 3 attacking. If successful, put everything in Arkansas and attack Arkansas->Mississippi do or die. Then end turn.

If OK->AR drops to only 4 attacking, stop and await further orders.

This is where I mention that I was born on the anniversary of the Battle of Nashville. Which I know only because there are surprisingly few important anniversaries on that date - certainly noticeably less than it's due share of 1/365th.
All to Kentucky.

Attack KY-TN until I'm down to 5 or 6 units in Kentucky or Tennessee has been taken.
Either way, await further instructions.

Provisional map
I don't see where I ordered to put them all in Tennessee. I didn't say "do or die".

Though I see I didn't explicitly specify that I wanted to decide that afterwards, either. Embarrassed

So yeah. Depending on we handle the situation, either I want

7 units to stay behind in Kentucky, 9 to move to Tennessee. Attack TN-GA-FL-AL do or die. Await further instructions, though those will only concern a possible tactical move.

or

Attack TN-GA-FL-AL do or die, but leaving 7 behind in Tennessee. Tactically move 6 units from Tennessee to Kentucky and end turn.

Based on precedent I think Joe will allow you to leave units in Kentucky.
