Now Lewis is spread out too thin. It won't be hard at all for Gustaf to sweep up the South, and Teddy will be able to recapture much of his lost territory. If you're going to conquer that much territory in one turn, and spread yourself out that much, you have to eliminate at least one enemy player.

I've been spread out too thin since the elimination of BK. I had only one hope if I were to keep my chances of victory (chances that really were only born that very turn) alive, and that was to bluff and cajole myself into keeping the bulk of my property for a turn or two more. I didn't think that could have happened if I'd kept mum, either, hence the threats. Eliminating the middleman was too clearly the logical thing to do. Though for Teddy to undertake the brunt of the work was absolutely not. I wonder what Gustaf blackmailed him with.
