That quote doesn't make sense. Wouldn't the racism of the south, cause young people to get out and protest.

It should but for the most part it doesn't.  And white males also hold the Republicans to greater hold then Democratic for reasons like the Repubs are true men, where Dems are girly men. Back in the FDR-Truman-JFK-LBJ era, this wasn't the case. And the way liberal are known to be labels such as being lazy, elitist, blacks, and other stereotype brainwashed white men thinking that the Republicans will help them because they are the party you can have a beer with and work hard.

If the dems want to get the white man  vote back how would they have to appeal to them? And I'm not saying all white men are repubs(D right here and white man), just the majority of them are members of the Republican party for the reasons I mention in this thread.

I think the latter is somewhat correct. Connect everything to gay rights then the youth will fly to the polls.

Most youth men aren't homophobia, so gay rights won't hurt if the old start dying off and suddenly my generation is 60 years old . Feminism might be it but it's not that big of deal in the Democratic Party in recently years.

Because the median voter theorem implies that elections will be roughly 50/50, and if minorities are more Democratic, then someone has to be more Republican to counter them.

The reason most Republican white males go to the party is because of Republican image as tough guns that will kick your ass. I wouldn't care if this image was in the Dems party but it will get to the point when they will become sexist to ladies and homosexuals that will switch me to third party.
