Less people care about Pelosi than Republicans might think, especially know that she's the Minority Leader. You couldn't find five random people in public that even know who she is.

That wasn't the conclusion of one of the other former invincibles, Allen Boyd, who dropped from 62% in 2004 (and was unopposed basically in 2006/2008) to getting a meager 41%.

That's just an opinion and one that's not really based on anything solid. People don't vote on the Speaker of the House.

If the dems want to get the white man  vote back how would they have to appeal to them? And I'm not saying all white men are repubs(D right here and white man), just the majority of them are members of the Republican party for the reasons I mention in this thread.

Correct answer: feminism and gay rights

I think the latter is somewhat correct. Connect everything to gay rights then the youth will fly to the polls.

Most youth men aren't homophobia, so gay rights won't hurt if the old start dying off and suddenly my generation is 60 years old . Feminism might be it but it's not that big of deal in the Democratic Party in recently years.

Because the median voter theorem implies that elections will be roughly 50/50, and if minorities are more Democratic, then someone has to be more Republican to counter them.

The reason most Republican white males go to the party is because of Republican image as tough guns that will kick your ass. I wouldn't care if this image was in the Dems party but it will get to the point when they will become sexist to ladies and homosexuals that will switch me to third party.

Eh, this might play a small role, but by far the biggest factor is surely that white males are typically more privileged and face less discrimination than members of other groups. The only way that Democrats could win them barring a landslide is white males stop being the majority group or Democrats start appealing to majority groups (in which case they'd probably need to shift to the right of the Republicans).

despite white males usually voting republicans, its not like the democratic party leadership is lacking in white males.

Of the 51 Democratic Senators, 36 (70.6%) of them are white males.
Of the 192 Democratic Representatives, 106 (55.2%) of them are white males.

what does Pelosi have to do with losing the south. Weren't most of the congressional losses fairly distributed throughout the country krazen?

Not really. In the Northeast, the Great Lakes, and the Plains areas, the GOP mostly just won back the same seats they held 4 years ago, along with a couple flukes like PA-11. There weren't too many new seats, and there was proof that some seats like CT-05 were permanently gone.

It's in the South, and areas bordering the South, that the Democrats lost seats that they've held for 100 years. Guys like Spratt and Boucher were once considered invincible.
