The left has to say that to manufacture outrage. Today, its people like Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan who fuel that racial strife. Look them up, they're Obama's long time friends.

Again, you are willfully ignorant. If this wasn't a problem, the chairman of the local GOP wouldn't have flat out told the sender of the email that it was racist. The GOP doesn't admit anything unless they really can't get out of it.

What should people that want to make fun of Obama do that won't come across as racist?

Perhaps not use a monkey which is an established comparison that racists use for black people... I know it's a stretch...

There are many other animals - a donkey, some kind of bird with an offensive name like a tit or something... God, use your imaginations.

The Bush/Chimp comparison was based on an actual facial expression... not his mere existence.

I don't know why you lot feel the need to defend this nonsense...

Not depict him as a monkey?

And like Polnut said, this woman is not worth defending. These people are hurting your party/side.

Oh, I'm not defending really.  It just looks a little silly getting bent out of shape over it when the same people getting bent out of shape now did the exact same thing to the previous President.  But yes, I understand there are certain things you're not supposed to associate with various minorities.  What may be ok to do to a person of a certain race or gender, might not be cool to do to another race or minority.  I just find most of it silly.  (granted that's easy for me to do as a thirtysomething white male in middle America)

I get you.  That said, when your group is already taking flak for supposedly (this isn't the first time someone's gone..."tea party...racist"...right?) having some racist tendancies and that portraying a black man as a chimp has slightly more to it than doing it to a white man....the smart thing to do (at the very least)...is to avoid accusations of racism.  Unless well...you're either stupid...racist...or both.  Lets just leave it at stupid for person who sent that image out and see if the racist angle is proven.

If you had a truly non-racist message that you wanted to convey...but had second thoughts about comparing the O to a chimp...you could have photoshopped him onto one of the three stooges...you get the point...

Bush's simian countenance was so obvious it would have taken an extreme partisan not to notice. And it had no community overtones of any kind. It's not strictly comparable. (It's still not something you point out in polite conversation, obviously.)
But yeah, "Blacks are apes, not real humans!" is so old a discredited trope that I could actually buy some people not thinking of it when seeing an image like this (the straight chimpanzee hair on Obama's head looks really weird, btw. Makes him appear whiter, and also looks like a combover from hell.) But they then say "just because of Obama's character and because of the "rumours" (rumours? Lol.) that he was born in apecountry, not im America like us real Americans." you kinda stop being credulous.

Cute.  But it's been done already.  With Bush.  Although Bush always had a tail, so he was apparently a monkey.  Chimpanzees are apes.  Maybe we see Obama as a slightly more highly-evolved primate than Bush.

I like this one better:

Obama himself is the product of an interiracial couple, and he's very cool, supremely logical, and has really big ears.  And he admits to being a Trekkie.  He told newsweek "I used to love Star Trek...  You know, Star Trek was ahead of its time. There was a whole—the special effects weren't real good, but the storylines were always evocative, you know, there was a little commentary and a little pop philosophy for a 10-year-old to absorb."  Also, he ordered a special screening of Star Trek in the White House.  And, don't forget, he married a woman that looks like Uhura.

You know it's your fault.  I was doing some writing.  Doing some calculations.  Bought some stock today at scottrade.  Ordered a book on-line.  I even learned to use a new instrument this morning.  A scanning electron microscope.  Overall, it was shaping up to be a fairly productive day.  Then I checked in here to see if there were any interesting polls, and I see you mentioning Star Trek.  So I start clicking on reviews to see what the critics say, and one link leads to another, and the next thing I know I'm closing my office door and spending an hour and a half studying images of Zoe Saldana.  I blame you.

What a bunch of whiners. Leftists did the same thing to President Bush.

Amen!

(that's not to say that I approve of the chimp comparison in either case, of course)

Did anyone see the left wing protestors at the Tea Party events, yelling "God Damn America" and "I wipe my ass on the flag"......

The correct answer would have been "not gay".

Come on.. See radical leftists portrayed in the media?  No, that's only reserved to tea party protesters.  Look, we all know that race is used to divide parties.  On that note, I find this email completely unacceptable and unbecoming of a person in power.  Let's stick to the issues people.  The simple fact that you have to use blatant, racially provocative statements/images in the public square (Left or right) shows that you simply lack substance to support your personal ideology.
