A lot of PA's Reagan Democrats are perhaps coming home.

Why the hell do you people pay attention to polling a year and a half out? This stuff isn't even vaguely relevant until next summer at the earliest.

Because until this week, it was pretty reassuring and nice to think about...

Good news for Republicans is that next year I expect the youth and African American turnout to be significantly lower than it was in 2008.

Hooray for fewer people voting!

Yep. Always blows my mind.

The parties (particularly Republican) may be extremist in rhetoric, but in actual policy results it's pretty silly to think so. I mean, the recent budget debacle was over whether cuts should be a bit less or a bit more than 1% of the federal budget.

The new Republican Governor of Pennsylvania is about as popular as the new Republican Governors of Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, and Florida.

Apparently, Senator Pat Toomey has kept a low profile in the Senate so far, good practice for a new Senator -- especially if he has as firm corporatist credentials as anyone in the Senate.

Governor Tom Corbett is unlikely to be much help for the Republican nominee for President.

I know it's like 8 days too late to be timely, but why did you quote my 1988-2008 comparison to talk about Corbett?

I don't see how Corbett is in an unrecoverable position. Being down 5 against his former opponent and down 10 in approval can be overcome depending on how the rest of the year goes. Christie went from -30 to positive 20 in just a few months.

http://www.quinnipiac.edu/x1327.xml?ReleaseID=1594

Quinnipiac has similar approvals. 42-53. Generic R leads 41-40.

President Obama, who carried Pennsylvania 55 - 44 percent in the 2008 election, is underwater mostly because of his deterioration among independent voters, who disapprove of his performance 57 - 37 percent, compared to 50 - 46 percent approval in February. His 89 - 9 percent disapproval among Republicans is up from 80 - 15 percent disapproval in February. Democrats back him 76 - 18 percent, compared to 81 - 14 percent in February.

What are the Obama-Santorum numbers? There aren't in the OP and neither is the link?
