By 'car/insurance' I meant the cost of the entire car plus insurance.  Like the car payment, repairs, etc.

Ah. Gotcha. Well, I did knock it up a bit for gas. Still though, I think my estimates are much more accurate.

Actually, no. They can share a bed. When my mom divorced my jerk stepdad, he moved into a single bedroom apartment with his son(whom I felt sorry for, having to share a bed with his dad, though they eventually did a two-bedroom apartment). I don't think the costs are quite $500 in Georgia, unless maybe you go into deeper Atlanta. Actually, my step-bro did complain about a group of like 10 mexicans who lived in a two-bedroom apartment above them - you can bet they saved a good deal on rent.

Well, still, my point holds. You don't really have the experience of having to pinch pennies. I think many advocates of high minimum wages really haven't had to seriously think about how to live on little money - they don't take into account the various unnecessary comforts that can be sacrificed to better afford necessities.
