Wow...

I expected a relatively thrilling final round, but was far from expecting such a mess. Tongue From a neutral standpoint, that's exactly the kind of ending we needed. Smiley

Now, it all lies to the choices of 3 people. Wink Edu, Ben and Julio, I know you were all supporters of the SPÖ and the final results made you quite sad. I will not refrain from my responsibility in SPÖ's failure (it was, IMO, the stain of the top 5 Tongue), but it is undeniable that a clear majority of the participants didn't want it to be in the top 2... Now, don't be sore losers ! Sad You've got a choice, you are the kingmakers of this survivor. Please do the right choice.

And Antonio, I could be saying the same thing as you but with a cousin in Italy considering you helped the greens to win against the SPÖ in the first round and then gave 9 points to make them tie against D66 Grin

Oh, sure. But you forgot that :
1. There are far more Italians in Argentina than Argentinians in Italy.
2. We are just better for this kind of stuff. I mean, at least if you were Mexican or Colombian, you could barely compete... Grin

Seriously though... You weren't aware of the tiebreaking rules when you voted, and thus you have a fair reason to change your vote. I encourage you to do so. Even if you find DNA boring, I'm sure you don't want the greens to win this survivor.

Julio, listen to Fab and choose a successful social-democratic government party ! You may not like scandidnavian parties in general, but the social-democrat ones have a hell of a history, successfully implemented left-wing policies and experienced an unseen electoral success. I'm sure that's the best choice you can do.

Ben, we pissed you of with SPÖ's choice, but I'm not closing this round until I have 11 valid votes. From your previous votes, I gather that you don't want the greens to win, and you have the occasion to stop them.

However this survivor ends, I want to thank you for your participation. You are the ones who made the survivor so passionating, who gave us so many tough battles and upsetting results. Whoever wins, it will be nice enough. Okay, I will be very disappointed if DNA doesn't win because it deserves it (and because I already sacrified my initial favorite Sad). But contrary to Fab, I don't loathe the german greens and they will be a good runner-up. Let's see how this ends up ! Smiley

Grüne is the best Green Party in Europe. And I would like to see them in the 2nd place, after SPÖ.
I don't think they deserve to win this. they have no history. They have supported the CDU in the past and will do it again in the future... but they are a modern movement which manages to get young people interested in politics. They deserved to be 2nd, but not 1st.

7 to DNA. DNA for survivor!

DNA is a Scandinavian party, exactly the kind of party I wouldn't support for Survivor. But they have managed to be one of the most succesful parties in europe's history. and I like Jens Stoltenberg.

Why are you doing that ? You're entitled to have an opinion different of those of the survivor manager. Wink

Anyways, I want Ben to cast an actual vote before closing the round...

To be honest i'm not really sure, what i'm supposed to do.

I assume i'm asked to change my vote to DNA, to prevent a Grüne victory.

If so, I do so: I change my vote to: 5 DNA

You can vote for DNA, or Grüne. That's your choice.

BTW, don't be surprised if I don't close this round in the next 24 hours. I'm not pulling a LibertasTM, it's just that I'm traveling and won't have enough time to update all the stuff before tomorrow.

In the meantime, I have to say I still don't know who wins in this situation. I assume DNA wins thanks to Jon changing his vote and Julio and Ben's vote, but I'm not counting yet to keep the fun. Wink

Note I never expressly forbade it. Wink I'm not a fan of tough and exception-less rules : I think I'd tend to judge vote changes on a case-by-case basis. If you change it for purely tactical reasons, then I'd probably disregard the change and keep the original vote (it never happened, so fine). If however you have a valid reason or have genuinely changed your mind, I don't see any reason to ban it. That's what I honestly think, I hope you guys understand my viewpoint.

Anyways Jon, I want to say you kudos for sacrificing your favorite for solidarity's sake. That's something very noble to you.

Final results tomorrow ! Now I'm gonna sleep. Tongue

It was very hard for "grand oldies" to survive, but, at last, one of them prevails and that's what is important.
Of course, I'm a bit sad that no big party from the right was competitive, but that's not really a surprise Grin.

Congrats, Antonio, it was very entertaining and pleasant.

Well, partial objectives were met. No big tiresome party won (and by big i mean one that is internationally well known, not the Labour party of Norway, although maybe that changed a few days ago). Also no green party won.
I would have preferred a not so boring party winning but what can i do? I tried Tongue

Excellent survivor, one of the most fun in the forum Cheesy

Thank you guys for your kind words ! Smiley I'm really happy to see you enjoyed this survivor. I've had myself a very good time managing it, and I must thank you for that. With your differing points of views, your conflicting choices, your tactic skills, you are the ones who made the survivor thrilling, fun, unexpected and passionating. We avoided easy hacery and managed to have a balanced survivor from the beginning to the end. A lot of people saw their favorites losing, or parties they hated surviving far too much, but at some point we could all get along when it was about ensuring this survivor would remain fun for everyone. So, thank you guys. Smiley

The last round has been anything but disappointing. Wink I expected DNA to win easily, but once Edu voted everyhting changed and we thought a Grüne victory would be inevitable ! And finally, Julio and Jon both made a choice we didn't expect (for the record, even if Jon's change hadn't been counted, DNA would still have won the tiebreak 6-5). That's a quite unbelievable coincidence that this final round happened just at the time of the Utoya tragedy, but in some way that makes DNA's victory even more deserved... That's a great survivor IMO, a scandinavian party with a formidable history, a government party which has exerted a considerable influence in its country's society. It's a role model for a lot of Social-democrats, even though, as the graph shows, it has significantly declined since the 1970s.

So, it's over, guys. This survivor has passionated us for almost 4 months. It's certainly the biggest one I've ever managed, and I'm extremely proud to see it was a success. That implied a lot of work, but this work has been worth it. Smiley I'll probably start other survivors in the future, though probably not as big as this one.

See you, people ! Cheesy

Congratulations.

I'm personally delighted, that two of my favourites (SPÖ & D66) made it to the finals.

On the other hand, the tories went to early.

Progress Party (Norway) would have been eliminated before if the tragedy of Utoya had happened before. We should have made an anti-survivor to see what party does the people hate more.

That's somewhat ironic, yeah. But to be honest, the Progress Party is not that awful if you compare it to the rest of the group. FN, LAOS, SVP, Lega Nord all make the Scandinavian far-right parties look like kids...

A little graph to conclude ! Smiley Here is the evolution of the survivor's composition by group (until the top 5) :
