As we currently only have 9 Senators following IrishDemocrat's resignation, the five vcotes in favour of the amendment means that it passes.

Now would all please begin voting on the Act itself.

With five votes in favour and only nine senators this vote has passed.

All further votes will be counted but I present this to the President for his signature and thus stamp of approval.

I really don't like this bill. I don't like the idea of a new run off election. This bill is mindless politics. This complicates the ballot and that is already confusing enough. Because of that I VETO this bill.

VETO[/b]

I knew it would override. I just wanted to stick to my principles and veto it.

Yes, but it will require a seperate vote to override.  If the President had waited a little longer to veto it, he could have ensured that any override would come too late for this bill to affect this weekend's election, tho, but given the often languid pace of the Senate, he might not have to worry about that anyway.

You don't even have to worry. KEystonephil will only open the vote after the election starts, or if he doesn't, he certainly isn't going to close it before it. They'll never let us have this in this election.

This has to be the most worthless and least thought out piece of legislation in the history of this government.  Mr. President, if you want to revoke this after the election, you have my vote.

So this is the environment we'll in the next senate, eh? Oh well, I can play that game too, but you wanted it.

You are taking things too personally.  I don't like this bill and a couple of others that you have proposed.  That doesn't mean that we won't be on the same side in the future.

IIRC, you are the one that came out against my "Urban Enterprise and Renewal Act".

An override has been attempted on this veto and is ongoing in this thread.
