Owens isn't on the list, either. He's another rumored candidate.

I will wait until 2007 to make my choice, because chances are that half of these candidates won't be running for President then.

Frist, definitely. His #1 problem is electabiltity. He would have a hard time picking up any additional states from what Bush won this time, and he'd have a hard time defending many of the southwestern states. I would bet someone that if the Dems nominate a reasonable candidate against Frist, Nevada won't even be in play. Nominating a well-known, well-liked moderate like McCain or Giuliani would be much easier, but we're always up for a challenge.

Jeb.

If not Jeb, maybe Owens--or Romney.  But I don't know much about either of them, so if Jeb isn't running I'm an undecided voter.

Definitely not either Gulliani or Pataki.  The last time there was a good Yankee Republican President was TR, and I see no reason to expect that either of them New Yorkers would be better than Ford or Bush Sr. was.

Rice, Jeb Bush, insert some unthought-of brilliant Republican here , Thune, Ron Paul, Pataki, Hutchinson, Zell Miller, Frist, Sununu, Alexander, Owens, Hastert, McCain, Liz Dole, Guiliani, Murkowski, Santorum, Schwarzenegger, Hatch, Ashcroft.

In about that order of preference, Rice first, Ashcroft last.

McCain, Frist, Rice, Owens

My dream ticket McCain/Bush
McCain pulls over moderate voters, Bush secures the conservative base and the Bush Money machine.  Minimal win: 55%  and 345 EV
