Bentley is exactly right. Anyone attacking him is trying to apply an unconstitutional religious test to him.

Hypocrites.

Again, nobody has suggested denying anyone his rights.

Something can easily be inappropriate without being illegal.

Don't bother. He is a troll.

The same thing could be said about the Mosque at Ground Zero or Octomom or someone on TV who has a lot of plastic surgery and the subsquent complaints from Cathloic soccer moms that they are putting  too much presurre on teenage and pubescent girls to be someone they are not. It's not a crime to be a jerk and it might not even be unethical, but people still have the right to complain about it.

Again, guys: why are we making a controversy out of a situation where there should be none? It's Alabama. Like I said, be thankful they didn't elect Roy Moore. I suspect he'd be trying to incite religious rebellion and encouraging the Westboro Baptist Church to move in about now.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Tertullian teaches us that all men are equally enlightened in the Logos which is explicit only in Christ.

Tertullian? hmm, I would have expected that sort of thing from Origen but not Tertullian. in any case I'm impressed you've even heard of Tertullian.

Damn, I meant to write Justinus Martyr, not Tertullian, definitely not Tertullian. Origen, I don't know, the idea is certainly up his alley, but whether he explicitly states it, I don't know.

Right, and Zeus had Hephaestus crack open his head with smithy tools and out popped Athena.

Gov. Bentley can say whatever he wants. Every person in the world is a brother or sister to me.

Headline: "New Governor's Words Don't Upset Many in Alabama".

"I don't think he was too smart to say that," 72-year-old Ron Brooks said as he was getting his hair cut at a barber shop in Wetumpka, a suburban town about 20 miles north of Montgomery. But Brooks, a retired employee of a defense contractor, said he's "inclined to agree" with Bentley's statement.

Great. Everytime a southerner complains about the stereotype of their region being dominated by intolerant close-minded rednecks, Dixie bends over backwards to prove it true. Roll Eyes

RE: The Gov. I couldn't give a damn about whether he "apologizes for his remarks"; I'm bothered to hell and back that he actually believes that crap. "Apologizing" for "hurt feelings" and the like doesn't mean crap without actually deciding he realizes he was actually wrong in his beliefs. Otherwise he's still the same old bigot as before, but now insincere to boot.

I'm concerned. There appears to be no way to directly blame Sarah Palin for this. Is someone working on changing that?

I respect your views, Badger.  I don't necessarily share them, but I do respect those views.

While they did get rid of their ban on interracial marriage 10 years ago, voters defeated an attempt to get rid of the poll tax. Ass backwards state.
