I decided to try Dave's application and as a beginner I started with something easier. I tried to make a (relatively) Democratic seat in uber-Republican Idaho. I have no clue about exact partisan numbers so I'd be happy if anybody wants to chime in and tweak the boundaries.

Please, be kind. Smiley

I made this one a while back:

The actual map is probably not going to change much (if at all); the state has a bipartisan commission and prevents excessive county-splitting and whatnot. Not that the Republicans are hindered by that.

That's a pretty horrible map. I tried to keep county splits at a minimum level. I guess that my 1st district will be at least swing/lean Republican.

You left the north part of Blaine County, the most Democratic part, out of your Democratic district...

Thanks. Any estimates about how it voted in 2008?

Actually I meant my district but that's very interesting too.

I guess that's much better. Thanks for the advice guys. Smiley

The Dem district looks actually like a mini-Idaho.
And the two districts have exactly the same population.
