Whenever someone brings up Fiji it usually means they're trying too hard.

Northern hemisphere supremacist.

Much as I love the Fijian coup of 1987, gotta give it to the Roach here.
Uh, what happened in the Fijian coup of 1987?

Indian-Fijian Prime Minister was ousted by Native Fijian nationalists in the military. Supreme Court and Governor-General tried to rule it illegal and set up a new government so military ousted the Governor-General as well and declared a republic. Military regime was set up which later transitioned into an elected government under a system specifically designed to ensure Native Fijian dominance until 1999.

...at which point, of course, there was another coup with the same purpose. Yeah, I sort of guessed but am not aware of any details.

More or less depressing than Rochambeau's posting history?

Also I'm not sure if I'd count the 2000 event as a coup or simply "attempted coup". The coupsters never won international recognition which appears to be the standard if a collapsed coup was ever succesful.
