Well, I've gotta say... marrying into a Wiccan family is definitely less weird than this thread turned out to be.

Anyway, congrats. Smiley

yeah, the whole word thing was rather rude

A belated Merry Christmas to all.  In the spirit of forgiveness to our foes taught by Jesus called Christ of Nazareth, I will let this thread remain open.

Are you saying that your foes are taught by Jesus, or that forgiveness was taught by Jesus?

Reading comprehension...

...shows that this is an example of syntactic ambiguity, in the spirit of "Franzl saw the man who killed Cathcon with binoculars."  The linguist approves.

I know what Mikado meant, I was making sure Mikado knew. The example sentence is hilarious, though.

The moderators have more or less agreed that banned posters who have come back to troll with sock accounts should not be allowed to return.  So in the name of xmas ending, he has been muted by yours truly until Dave returns from his personal life to finish the deed. fyi for all.

I think his postings have been better than ever.....and not personal in nature.  A poor decision, imo.

Well, pretty much all of us were in agreement to some degree on this one.  If you're permanently banned, you shouldn't be allowed to return.  We kind of slipped up with Ogis IMO.

That isn't necessarily relevant though. If a ban is to have any kind of meaning it has to be upheld.

Well there's nothing any of us can do about it, since you guys control the buttons, but a blanket zero exception policy isn't always a wise policy.  His postings don't warrant this action and he's clearly going out of his way to show he's changed, but again, there's nothing we can do about it....except express our view of it.

Oh and I'm not attacking Lunar or anyone, just talking, that's all.

He has not been banned again yet, only silenced until Dave returns.  If you have any viewpoint on the matter, bring it up with him.

We are not a rehab center for troubled youth.  Hamilton could come back and act normal as well, it does not mean that he should be allowed to.  A ban is a ban, regardless how likable someone is or appears to be.  If a ban is to have any meaning, it has to be enforced consistently.

If an exception is to be made, it needs to be made deliberatively.

I should be clear, since I just got a barrage of PMs from Ziggy, that when banned posters return, we maxinfract their posts without any rhyme or reason to temporarily silence them.  When I said "returned with sock accounts to troll" I am referring to his hyper-Christian troll account.

I'm not sure how much more on the matter I have to say.

You might have missed the last sentence of my post that I added, since I knew you'd read it wrong Tongue

I added a few to mine as well, heh.  No worries.  Some posters who are banned are popular among certain segments of the forum community (like Hamilton, Libertas, etc.) and some level of complaining seems to be inevitable.

Petition Dave if you'd like to see the ban lifted, there's a decent chance he'll agree, but until we hear word from him on the matter, I think the silencing is appropriate and fair.

History of this thread:

An reformed antichrist finds a way out of hell and shows off his antichrist fiancée...
Satanic symbols are discussed...
A christian shows off his christian family...
People debate words...
A dispute ensues over the style of the All-American-Girl-Next-Door-Type...
A guilty live dog stands over an innocent dead deer...
Season greetings are exchanged...
Nazis show up in the streets and round up the antichrist...
People protest the nazis...
Appeals are made to the lead nazi to free the antichrist...

Audience is left wondering what comes next....

shucks, just when I'm about to compare myself to Master Po in Kung Fu, you have to mention the word "humble"....then I'll just have to settle for Jean-Claude Van Damme in Bloodsport.

The gratuitous Simpson's reference would be in order.

Oh, I see someone's done that.  I would have gone with "Worst.  Thread.  Description.  Ever."  But Flanders works just as well.

I thought you were a Cougar.  Hook 'em Horns would make her the enemy.  Or maybe that's true only if you're an aggie.

I am a Cougar, but Austin isn't that far away and is a former SWC member, so I do cheer for them.  Of couse, my post wasn't seriously about UT cause that aint the Hook em Horns sign she is making.
