    2. $1 billion for tax credits on green cars.
    3. $5 billion for rural infrastructure
    4. $3.9 billion to be put at the disposal of the Mideast Regional Government
    5. $100 million for sexual education classes in the region

As I said earlier, we can add more money in subsequent sections of Section 2 that are for across the nation. But I think we should keep the first five just to complying with the requests and working within the requests as submitted by the SoIA.

This is just dandy. Now each region will be expected to go over the limit out of fairness and we will be fighting over how much each should get. Something we need to avoid to do this quickly. We can add more after these regional allocations are done but for them lets stick to the requested amounts for each region.

Well I myself would subtract ten billion from the healthcare thing, however I have not yet consulted with Governor Tmth.

For the sake of your own sanity (as well as mine), just work within the designated amounts for now... More stimulus can be asked for down the road.

The Midwest has requested $12.5 billion.

They have not broken it down for me, but have indicated that infrastructure and education are top priority with new energy resources being the lowest priority.

Hm, that's fine, I suppose. Sorry for the lateness, I was trying to think of some way I could blame this on Yankee, but I couldn't think of anything.

This is the same garbage the SoIA requested. Garbage in, Garbage out. Break it down, or the SoIA will do it for your region a month from now. Tongue

Well, Senators, if you're going to do this, do it. I'm sorry if the information I provided you was not specific enough. Frankly, I'm operating with very little SOIA precedence. Obviously, I accept my share of the blame for this failure so far.

Is there any other way I can assist you folks?

FTR, I think Cynic has done a marvelous job on this and should be commended. He has risen above and beyond the call of duty.

The Mideast has turned it's information in on time. Hopefully, the other regions can quickly follow, because this is taking longer than it should. An outsider would probably be very surprised to learn this Senate is a body of 10, not a body of 3-5.

This is what I have put together for the Midwest.  It works within the $12.5 billion request framework.

1. $5 billion for schools.
          A.  $3 billion for teacher retainment and class size reduction.
          B.  $1.5 billion for replacement of aging school buildings and downsizing in inner                 cities and rural areas.
          C.  $500 million for loan forgiveness for new teachers.
    2. $5 billion for infrastructure
           A.  $3.5 billion for repairing and upgrading roads and bridges.
           B.  $1 billion to repair and upgrade the electricity grid and expand capacity across the region as well as water, sewer, and other utility infrastructure upgrades.
           C.  $500 million for dam maintenance and repair.
    3. $1 billion for clean energy expansion, to be determined by the Midwest Alþing.
    4. $1 billion for energy cost relief to the poor and elderly, to be made available in grants and determined by the Alþing.
    5. $500 million to the Alþing for other purposes, to be decided by that group.

Actually, the mideast hasn't turned in its information as you are still 1/3 over your allotted amount and unless you want me to reassign the moneys or the SoIA to do it entirely himself, I would hope you would fix yours as soon as possible. Tongue

Yes, the SoIA did an excellent job and his initiative helped drive the process. His only mistake was not considering how those requests would be constructed in a responsible piece of legislation.

Don't forget we've already designated $30 billion for highway maintenance and repair a few weeks ago. I suppose it all depends on how much is enough and what impact it will have on economic growth vis a vis the deficit.
