Let's say The Democrats decide to nominate Wilson's Attorney General Alexander Mitchell in 1920, instead of Governor James Cox, but for Vice President decide to stay with Franklin Roosevelt. The election of 1920 goes about the same with a bigger win for Harding than in RL.

Life goes mostly the same as RL except the Teapot Dome scandal goes public before Harding's death. Coolidge is re-nominated and chooses Secretary of Commerce Herbert Hoover as Vice President.
The Democratic Convention in New York City is deadlocked between William Mcadoo and Al Smith until the tenth Ballot when Cox there his hat into the ring and was supported by most of the Democratic delegates, Cox wins on the 11th Ballot. He chooses Senator Joesph T. Robinson of Arkansas as his VP candidate.
Disappointed with the lack of progressive candidate, well known senator from Wisconsin Robert La Follete revives the Progressive party and sticks with Burton Wheeler as his VP
Will the Democrats have a better chance to win, will La Follete do better than in RL, or will Silent Cal seize the day?
