I've made some town-level maps of Rhode Island's gubernatorial election.  Enjoy.

First is the standard map of who won what:

Here's the margin of victory:

Chafee:

Robitaille:

Caprio:

Great ! Cheesy

Caprio really got trounced... Next time he will probably learn to STFU. Also, Chafee and Caprio's votes seem localized in more or less the same places, to it's likely that liberals abandoned Caprio to vote for Chafee.

Basically, Chafee did well in cities and large towns, Robitaille did well in small towns, and Caprio did well wherever there were conservative Catholics to vote for him.

Caprio came close to falling under 10% in several western towns and in Narragansett Bay.  Not too surprising of course, but still an impressive failure for the Democratic Party candidate.

Chafee's 51% in Providence was also pretty impressive, and as is the case for most R.I. elections, carried it for him.  The only place he performed better was Block Island, but nobody lives there anyway.

It looks like Chafee must have picked up the strong support of African-Americans in order to be able to get over 50% in Providence.

I'm still pissed that they didn't do any exit polling of this race. It certainly would have been more interesting than, say, Arizona.
