Fellow Atlasians,

An explanation of my lack of activities is in order.  Your President is living through some rough times.  Besides having lost my job and breaking my hand, currently in a cast, now my roommate has had a major accident with my car, and totaled it.  I have only carried liability insurance, so I will not recover anything financially.  Roomie and I are working on getting a new car.

I'm beginning to think the powers that be in the universe just don't like me.

At the current time, I am not in a good state to be performing my duties as President.  I am not resigning.  However, I am giving notice that I am unable to function as President right now, and I am stepping aside for a few days (a week at most).  Vice-President Kalwejt will serve as acting President until I declare my readiness to resume my office.

Since I don't want my brief period in power to be wasted one, I must say I'm strongly leaning toward nominating a respected and experienced Atlasian to be a Secretary of Federal Elections for a reminder of this presidential term. This crucial office is vacant since Teddy's breakdownleave, and it would be better to have a person, who can properly handle this matter.

I hereby dismiss Dr Cynic from his position of Secretary of Internal Affairs.

This is merely legalizing a longstanding fact. He has been not active for over three weeks and did not responded, despite being on-line frequently, to my approachment on AIM.

While I didn't see a big point of dismissing SoIA, which position isn't as essential for a game like SoFE or GM, just a month before term is over, Atlasian government cannot just tolerate such inactivity. Matter of principle, not practicality here.

Remembering I'm just a King for a few days, I won't nominate new SoIA, and I'm leaving futher decisions in this matter to President Fritz, once he returns to his duties.

A minor point: FWIW I so so the SoIA as a crucial role, particularly in the unofficial role we'd been exercising as assistant GM (for domestic matters). While he was present, Dr. Cynic was actually quite helpful in this regards. It was mostly behind the scenes, but I tried to always give him a shout out when publishing any numbers crunching he did.

At any rate, his absence is being felt as I asked him a couple times (without response as it was after he went AWOL) to tabulate the additions to various categories of the budget spending was increased by the passed Stimulus Bill.

Whether you guys want to replace him or wait another month for the next administration's pick to be confirmed is up to you guys.

At this point, Badger, it would be much easier to you to ask someone good in this stuff to help you unoficially.

Despite my initial plans to leave this matter, after consultations with Game Moderator and hearing his concerns, I decided to nominate an experienced and respectable Atlasian to fill the office of Secretary of Internal Affairs and help our poor GM finish him job.

I asked AndrewCT (I don't care if he have ME avatar now) to fill the position. Andrew is retiring from Atlasia after an election, but he agreed to step in for the last time. Andrew have a valuable experience in budget calculating from his days as Northeast Governor.
