Then put a libertarian like Dibble in there.  We have a centrist, a conservative, and hoepfully a libertarian.

You don't consider me libertarian?

The fact that we are actively litmus testing people on the basis of their political beliefs is disturbing.

Yes, I think this is very true.  As was said before, for a Supreme Court justice to be truly great, you should be able to read a decision from the justice and have no clue whether the person was white or black, liberal or conservative, male or female, etc.  We should be hiring people based on how well they can do their job, not on their political ideology.

You conservatives are supposed to be against affirmative action, darn it. Smiley

It shouldn't be ideoligcally based. I shuuder to think of what happens if the President began appointing Justices based on political merit.

(The Rose Garden)

(President PBrunsel walks to the podium as cameras flash.)

PBrunsel: Good afternoon,

Today I will nominate the honorable Demrepdan's replacement to the Supreme Court. Although I feel a loss by Demrepdan's resignation, I am glad he went out with honor.

I nominate South East Magistrate John Dibble for the Supreme Court. His Libertarian common sense is needed in the capital. I urge that he is confimed by the Senate.

(President PBrunsel leaves the podium as reporters and that dang press shout questions all at once and expect some type of answer.)

Good Afternoon, I am confirming my willingness to accept the position of Supreme Court Justice. I thank the President for this opportunity. I will resign my post as S.E. Magistrate upon confirmation of my new position by the Senate.

Excellent choice, Mr. President.  John Dibble will certainly be a straightforward, honest and active member of the SC and I urge my senators to support his nomination.

Congratulations, John.

I must point out though, PB, that I don't 100% find it appropriate to make a statement like "his Libertarian common senses is needed in the capital." That makes it look like the appointment was based on politics, as opposed to his merits.

Even if, of course, that's what it was based on. Wink

(The Rose Garden)

(President PBrunsel walks to the podium as cameras flash)

Hello, I have a brief statement to make on yet another appointment to the Supreme Court.

Liberty is a friend of mine, and I trully feel he is an honest and capable Atlasian who could have continued to serve well as a Supreme Court Justice. But when life gives you lemons make lemonade.

I now nominate former Senator Texasgurl for the Supreme Court. She works in a bi-partisan manner, we all know that and we have all seen that. I trust her and I know she will be a fine Justice.

(President PBrunsel sprints from the podium to avoid those silly questions from the press.)

Thank you for the nomination Mr. president.
I hope i am able to serve you and atlasia in a fair competent manner.
It is also my hope that the senate can get off their asses and vote to confirm or deny both Dibble and myself.

I strongly support both appointees and hope they are confirmed as soon as is possibly without being rash.
