Quick: what state has the longest streak of voting for the same party in presidential elections?
Vermont.   Fremont carried 11 states in 1856.  8 of them voted voted GOP for the next 13 elections (ME, NH, VT, MA, RI, OH, MI, and IA).  In addition, 2 states voted GOP from 1860-1908 (IL and MN).

In 1912, Taft only carried VT and UT.  If we consider Bull Moose as an alternate Republican, then MI, PA, and MN continued their streaks.  But those 3 stopped during the depression with MI and MN voting for FDR in 1932, and PA in 1936.  Vermont voted against FDR in all 4 of his elections and continued with GOP until 1969 (27 elections).

The best southern Democrat streaks were Georgia (1868-1960, 24 elections) and Arkansas (1876-1964, 23 elections).

The longest current streak is District of Columbia (1964-2004, 11 elections).  The longest Democrat streak for a state is Minnesota since 1976 (8 elections).

The longest current GOP streaks are those that are post-1964 for VA, IN, ND, SD, NE, KS, OK, ID, UT, AK (10 elections)
