This is depressing.  While Whitman isn't perfect, Brown is absolutely terrible.  Why would someone vote for him?

     Because they're Democrats, maybe?

This does not constitute a reason to vote for someone.  It's a matter of looking at someone's record and seeing that they utterly failed in office.  A couple of Democrats that I know refuse to vote for Brown in November because they know how bad he was.

Yeah, I have no idea what you're talking about. He wasn't as good as his dad, but he was pretty good.

All I know about Pat Brown is that he was a) corrupt & b) ran for a third term & lost. Tongue

He's also the only person I can think of who ran against two Presidents without ever running for President. His loss in 1966 was definitely a tragedy. In a lot of ways, 1966 represented the beginning of the cultural decline of America that has continued ever since.

Where did you get the impression I ever learned about him in History class?

He said history, not History.

Point being? Learning about California in the 1960s ranks very low on my list of priorities. I was just stating something I had been told by people who donated to his campaign & something that is an easily verifiable fact about his electoral exploits.
