Pan Am not TWA was the Lockerbie airline. If he's blinded by his emotions over his father's murder, what happens to Anglo-American relations when they let the convicted bomber go? After there are reports that BP lobbied for the bomber's release, and after the Chamber of Commerce lobbies for BP's liability in the oil spill to be limited, does that cause a grudge with the CoC leading him to decry their role in midterms as the Democrats now are?
(Speaking of the 80s, I wouldn't over-credit Reagan for "Trust but Verify." It wasn't as if what he said was an expression he coined or any policy change.)
