John Faso stuck the knife into Paladino right after the debate on Capital Tonight. He basically said he barely noticed him while watching and didn't even understand why he was up there.

So did anyone actually watch the West Virginia shindig? It's kind of funny how seemingly everyone here chose to watch a debate in a basically non-competitive gubernatorial race over a debate for one of the most competitive and important US Senate seats.

I can pretty much guess how it went:

Raese: Rubber-stamp Obamacare tax cuts cap and trade job-killer.
Manchin: Florida millionaire elitist. Also, not a rubber stamp.

Two minor candidates were included in the WV debate, too, or so I've heard.  One is a 9-11 truther, the other the Mountain Party candidate.

I saw the last 15 minutes of it. It was a boring affair. Apparently Manchin did not hit Raese on his home in Florida or his wealth but did hit him over the minimum wage and a few other policy issues. Raese did predictable rubber-stamp Obama arguments.

I'd say that Raese narrowly won, even though he had to backtrack from some of his positions.

It wasn't noticeable for those watching on TV, but at one point toward the end of the debate Paladino got up to use the bathroom.

Yeah, I read that. I was wondering at the time who was walking around behind the candidates. The screen cut his head off.

I see that the Libertarian is a closet Republican...

Well, yeah. That's generally the case...

Why are you still on this forum, Lief?

Someone needs to tell the people the truth, Sven.

All of the new stuff I listed is on C-SPAN again (see link above).

Anybody know of anything else today... or watch any of the debates yesterday?

I went to a debate between Sean Duffy and Julie Lassa this evening. Wasn't much interesting that went on mostly just campaign talking points.
I guess one thing would be Duffy rather dodging the abortion question other than saying hes endorsed by the Wisconsin right to life and Lassa on a question about naming your your opponents strengths and weaknesses didn't manage to or alternatively bother to list  his positives before her time ran out.
A photo, I took there.

If you guys are interested as to why New Mexico is doomed, I invite you to watch our gubernatorial debate tonight.  I'm sure 99% of your school board members and city councilors could be more effective heads of state than Martinez or Denish.

I watched part of the NY-Sen debate. Gillibrand has kind of a high pitched voice, but I thought she did pretty well.

Gillibrand won that one, barely, IMO.

Is it just me, or does she sound like a sixteen year-old girl?

I thought they both did well.  DioGuardi needed a knockout blow, and he didn't get it, though.

Kudos to the moderator for asking uncomfortable lightning round questions - and forcing the candidates to answer yes or no to them.  Many of the questions were very pointed.  All elected officials should be squirming at debates, not launching into endless, mindless talking points.  DioGuardi seems more adept than Gillibrand when forced to move away from talking points.

This last Toomey-Sestak debate has been pretty combative.

Sestak tried to Toomey to Christine O'Donnell on the final question about religion in society (mentioning the Constitution). Sestak called her "Eileen O'Donnell" though.

This debate will be key. If Buck wins it convincingly, I expect his numbers to go back up to where they were before MTP last week. However, should he tie with Bennet, or lose, this one will probably be down to the wire.

If he does really well in the debate, he may get back my meaningless endorsement.

He preformed well in the other debates, of course, only the being born gay or choosing to be gay comment went in the media. If he preforms at a normal buck level, he should be good

Looks like this is going to be what makes or breaks Buck. Here's hoping he doesn't let out another gaffe, because as much as I disagree with him socially, he at least seems to be way more anti-war than most of the candidates in the running. He's the better of the two, to me - since at least his social policy will probably never be implemented.

his social policies are a little to the right of me, but I'm okay with that. I'd much rather have him as Senator than Norton

Bennet is barely edging this one out.

Also, Buck's foreign policy positions are idiotic and contradictory. They have no appeal to anyone, really.
