It's posted at Talking Points Memo. I don't know if I'd call it great, the people are obviously actors and it was filmed a long way from WV, yet they're dressed up in WV working class drag... seems really inauthentic in a place where that matters.

They're white. That's all that really matters. It gets the point across well enough.

TPM has the casting memo. This is funny.

I'm trying to imagine how people would have discussed this if it was the Obama campaign trying to write an ad for Appalachian voters in 2008.

http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/10/gop-ad-men-sought-hicky-actors-for-west-virginia-senate-race-spo-video.php?ref=fpb

Getting predictably close to blackface, I see. But then there's no advocacy for these people anymore; they're as removed from the political process as they were before the 1930s.

Wow, Obama is pure poison…time to bust out the Bell Biv Devoe:

Poison
Yeah spot a Barack of freedom for a fact aah-aah uh-hum
Poison…you ready Pence I'm ready
You ready Hannity I'm ready Rush are you
Oh yeah break it down

Dems I must warn you
I sense something strange in the voter mind
Yeah yo situation is serious
Better cure it 'cause you’re running out of time
Mm mm tell 'em Beck…it's all so beautiful
Administrations they seem from the start
Yeah mm mm it's all so deadly
When socialism is not in America’s heart
Mm mm check it out

It's driving voters out of their mind
That's why it’s hard to be kind
Can't get it outta their head
Love taxes, hate business, want amnesty, wrong move you're dead

That Michelle O is poison
Never trust a big butt and smile
Her mongrel husband is poison poison

Racist.

If Beau wanted to be a dick, he'd just primary Coons in 2014. No way would he challenge Carper.

I mean that Joe would exert his influence to get Carper to retire in 2012.  Then again, he's only 63 so I don't think it's all that likely that he would give in.  I wonder if Castle will challenge Carper after all the 2010 dust settles?

No. Carper and Castle are close friends. Castle and Carper basically supported each other when they swapped places from Representative to Governor and Governor to Representative in 1992.

Can't say I find this suprising.

Rease is buying the election in WV, which has super cheap ad time...

Carper probably has more influence with the Delaware Democratic machine than Joe Biden does. Castle isn't going to run an actual tough race, he was expecting to sleepwalk into office.

Anyone can copy and paste song lyrics.  You do it far often for it to be clever - perhaps we could call it your shtick if we were being generous, which we are not.

I sense that this race is over. Raese will be the next senator from WV, and the WV Democratic machine is slowly going to crumble. Manchin may not even be re-elected governor.

If any of the tilting Republican races are still possible fights, it's Wisconsin. I have faith in Feingold.

I can guarantee you that one; he's term-limited.

Oh, is he? Then yes, the WV Democratic Party should anticipate many future losses. Arkansas and West Virginia are flipping for good.
