Political Suicide. No Candidate since Grover Cleveland has ran again and won. Usually they do the same or do worse than their first campaign.

It'd be like Humphries in 72, all the "not sures" would proably vote for him and no doubt he'd do ok in Iowa and then come second in NH before getting killed in the south.

Ever hear of a man named Richard Nixon?

I read an article today where he hinted he wanted to run again...

I don't think there's any way he'd get the nomination.

It's too early to tell. However, Gore flirted with the possibility of running again until a year or so before the election, so in 2006 or '07 we might see the headline 'Kerry: "I Won't Run"'.

I wonder who Kerry would endorse should he decide not to run.

I wonder if his endorsement will have the same timing and effect as Gore's did last year.  Just after Dean peaked and served to accelerate his decline.

NO!  I was against Kerry as the nominee from the start, he was my second least favorite serious candidate other than Dean.  Too liberal, too New Englandy.  It should have been Clark, or Edwards, even Gephardt.

Gore was the obvious nominee in '04 because he won the PV in 2000, lost the race in a very contentious manner, etc.

All but the Indoctrinated Spouters of the Ultra-Liberal Dialectic acknowledge that Bush won this one.  They may not agree on why, but they'll agree on that.  The two major options for why, when it comes down to it, are:

1)  We didn't appeal to the center enough.

2)  We didn't appeal to our base enough.

--both of which show something seriously wrong with Kerry as a candidate and as a campaigner.  Gore would have had a very good shot in 2004 off of the 2000 outrage...there's no outrage in 2004.  Kerry doesn't stand a chance.

The big candidate everyone is anticipating in 08 isn't Kerry, it's Hillary.

I doubt Hillary would run unless she was sure of winning. She's too smart for that.

Spot on. I grew to like Kerry but never really felt he was the best candidate.

Of all the serious candidates, I thought Kerry would be the best President, but would have one of the toughest times getting elected.

It's always going to be tough for a liberal to get elected because, according to exit polls, 34% of voters are self-styled Conservatives compared with 21% Liberals

This is how party ID and ideology split:

                                  Bush             Kerry

Democrats (37%)       11                 89

Republicans (37%)     93                   6

Independents (26%) 48                  49

                                  Bush             Kerry

Liberal (21%)             13%             85%

Moderate (45%)        45%              54%

Conservative (34%)   84%             15%

He's said several times that another presidential run was not out of the question, and even though I really like Kerry and find him quite the inspiration, I, first of all, would vote against him in the primaries, and, second of all, will be the next to admit that he wouldn't get too far in the primaries anyway.
