Wrong. It's one branch of state legislatures, and the other is for the people.

It doesn't outweigh it. All counties should have two senators in one branch of each state legislature.

Why[/i]? That would assume that they are equal.

How does an area with 1,500 politically equal one with several million?

It's a different region, and has the right to self-government.

Do you oppose the U.S. Senate?

Oh my god.  Cook County sticks out like a sore thumb.  Aghhh...no wonder Illinois sucks.  I need to move to TX or W FL or something.

Philip assumes first of all that cities use their numbers to oppress those living in rural areas.

Secondly, he assumes that rural areas are a minority with no political clout.  It's not like the Electoral College, the Senate, and the House already give power to rural interests or anything.

Even if you grant both of those assertions, it still doesn't makes sense to restrict voting to other people.  That'd be like preventing white people from voting since the demographic disagrees fundamentally with Blacks.

This is coming from someone living in a city of 2,000 people in California.

Because people in red areas don't want spots of blue controlling their lives.

It's already obvious that the population is almost 50/50 just by looking at the results.

So the amount of land that votes for Bush is more important than the amount of people that voted for Bush. Ah I see.....
