Talk Business-Hendrix College used robo-calls to survey 579 likely 3rd District voters Wednesday night. The poll’s margin of error is plus or minus 4 percent.

55% - Steve Womack (R)
31% - David Whitaker (D)

The Northwest Arkansas district is a traditional Republican stronghold in the state, having elected Republicans to Congress since 1966.

So the Democratic sacrificial lamb in this uber-Republican seat is doing better than Blanche Lincoln is statewide?

Not that surprising, as the 3rd has been close in open seat races.  See 2001 (14 point GOP win not really close, but not what it could have been given the seat, even though there was a strong Dem candidate), 1996, and 1992 (Tim Hutchinson won 50-47 that year).  This margin would be the biggest GOP win for this seat being open ever, actually.  Republicans first won it by knocking off an incumbent in 1966.
