@ America's Sweetheart : Agreed.

@ Zyzz : I would literally marry Elizabeth II if I had the chance. Dat ca$h has no age. However I just really think David Guetta is hot, even though he's older.

Anyway, right now:

Are all of Carly Rae Jepsen's songs about wanting to have sex with a guy who turns out to be gay?

I wonder if these songs are how those 10+ girls who had a crush on me in high school felt.

My AOTY is Crack-Up by Fleet Foxes, followed in rough order Grizzly Bear's Painted Ruins, Kendrick Lamar's DAMN., Ariel Pink's Dedicated to Bobby Jameson, Tyler The Creator's Flower Boy, Mac Demarco's This Old Dog, and Avey Tare's Eculyptus.

Although it's not like I heard everything last year.

DAMN. would probably be third or fourth for me. Styx new album was quite enjoyable.

My AOTY 2017 was Alex Cameron's Forced Witness. Cheesy, disgusting, funny, and full of brutal commentary on how sh**tty people are. DAMN. was an easy 2nd, though

once you get past the gimmick of all the song titles, this song is actually a very sad song about a breakup :/

"Let's be Brown Eyed Girl, Sweet Caroline
Freefallin' Small Town Saturday Night
Before you lose That Loving Feeling
Let's go Dancing on the Ceiling
Keep on living that Teenage Dream
Paradise City, where the grass is green"

Songs that remind me of a particular place and time, for some reason:

- Cash Cash ft. Bebe Rexha - "Take Me Home" (Atlanta, GA, Spring 2014)
- Krewella - "Alive" (West Nashville, TN, May 2013)
- Florida Georgia Line - "Get Your Shine On" (Cancun, Mexico, June 2015)
- Florida Georgia Line - "Tell Me How You Like It" (Lewisburg, TN, July 2015)
- Eric Church - "Springsteen" (Murfreesboro, TN, July 2012)
- Daughtry - "September" (Louisville, KY, October 2008)

I like this idea, I'll give it a shot

John Mayer - Stop This Train (On a train to Virginia in May(?) 2017)
Kendrick Lamar - HUMBLE. (See above, the train ride was the first time I listened to this album in it's entirety)
Three Days Grace - Unbreakable Heart (Pennsylvania, early 2016)
Black Sabbath - Iron Man (Virginia, 2006 and 2008)
Johnny Cash - Hurt (West Virginia, 2013)
Eminem - 'Till I Collapse (South Carolina, 2017)

Big Chief- Dr. John. I bounced at a bar in Louisville that tried a new orleans theme, and this was on the playlist in the hallway I stood outside of. I absolutely love new orleans jazz, and big chief is one of my favorites, but hearing it the 17th time at 4 am after dealing with drunks is not it's optimal listening.... being drunk at 4 am is.

BEER RUN- Todd Snider, I think. I heard this first time with my high school girlfriend in her parents basement amongst their music. We spent a lot of time in that basement making out, listening to music, and watching movies. I learned about tongue kissing and the grateful dead in that same spot, but no song takes me back quicker to that shag beige carpet and couch that was about 4 inches too short and the exact correct width than B DOUBLE E DOUBLE R U N.

Also of note- just got three day tickets to see the hold steady in philly in July and just have to mention it as often as possible to let off some of the excited energy.

Really into Tequila by Dan + Shay. The music video is a bit odd, but the song is great.

Have loved Itay Levi for years and this remix is another banger. Putting the bass on max turns my speakers into a pretty good fan.

In the radically different genre of power metal, I'm completely hooked on Orden Ogan's "Gunman" and can't believe I didn't know them before.

Two recomendations:

Greta Van Fleet
New band from Michigan (although they started in 2012, its first material got published last year) which could signal the revival of classic rock. They sound great and epic. The singer is just 21 and reminds me of Robert Plant. Summary: Classic rock with a fresh air.

Portavoz
Chilean rapper with focus on political and social issues. He is a guy from a worker's class neighborhood in Santiago and has a strong message, with some class warfare and anger but delivered in a very entertaining way. The first video is sung in Spanish and Mapudungun (language of Mapuche people, the main native group in Chile) and the second, which is one of his most popular songs and talks about the struggles of most Chileans in contrast to what the media and the elite depicts, has english subtitles. If you want to know more about Chile and its culture, I think it's a good start due to Portavoz's particular approach. (note: Portavoz means spokesperson in Spanish)
