Probably because they (as in punk, hardcore punk and crust) have influence on metal.

They also don't include Mastodon as an example of Progressive Metal. Sad

I think after listening to some of that stuff I can honestly say black metal is my least favorite genre ever.

The opening riff (1:03-1:13) sounds like straight-up Mastodon. The section that follows has an uncharacteristically thrash metal sound to it, though. My computer is stuck in the stone age at any rate, so I don't know about the rest of the song yet.

They're included as influences, just like hard rock, psychedelic, blues rock, grunge etc. And when I clicked on post-rock, I had another eargasm because Good Morning Captain was there. Bliss.

Slightly bizarre. They're not any more distorted than the next band & generally lack heaviness. They do sound somewhat like a sped-up Black Sabbath, I suppose. The categorization has definite problems, though, like listing Necrophiliac as death metal.

Well no, it's an 'influence' on metal. I think it's post-rock if we're using the strict definition, but I think of it as math rock

Went out to the GMEX tonight. Saw Funeral Party (emo/screamoish stuff... BRTD would approve.), Enter Shikari (Bunch of Yorkshiremen with metal guitars and drum n bass beats... mental) and 30 Seconds to Mars. Great night!

Saw these guys open for the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion yesterday.

http://www.myspace.com/mamarosin

Live, they were like nothing I'd ever heard but I would have known what to label the style - "Cajunpunk". (Listening to the stuff on here right now, and the first track anyhow sounds a lot less punk-y than they did live.)

Just had to remove anyone who gave 'Power' by Kanye West over 3 stars from my friends list on RYM. Anyone who approves of a crappy rapper ruining an old prog rock classic doesn't deserve to have a music opinion.
