McAuliffe stuck his neck out in making a lot of questionable personal attacks against the president.  I think that turned off a lot of swing voters.

He got his nose bloodied by Jeb Bush in Florida 2 years ago, but apparently didn't learn from that.

That whole crowd surrounding the Democrats - Terry McAuliffe, George Soros, Michael Moore, Al Sharpton, the Hollywood crowd, etc. - is a big turnoff to swing voters.  Then of course, there were blatant attempts by the "impartial" media to fabricate and distort stories to harm the president.  The media has now gone from reporting the news in a biased manner to deliberately making up and distorting information in order to influence elections.  And liberals have the nads to complain about Fox News.

Even if I were not crazy about Bush, I would never want to hand a victory to that awful group of people.  Their support for Kerry alone would have kept me from voting for him.
