John Kerry I think will move more to the center if he keeps his concession speech promise that now he knows who America is.  Well, America voted for Bush by 3.5 million votes, and the democratic party has to move to the center to be viable for 2008.  This includes the leadership, which still as of this point is John Kerry even though he didnt win.

What is exactly "Left" in his positions?

All social issues for starters:
abortion-believes tax payers should pay for a poor or minority abortion
gay marriage-although he says its up to the states, if he werent forced to say this to look centrist, he would be completely for it
guns-F rating from the NRA
Onto healthcare:
would turn it into government run healthcare, coverage for every american=european/canadian government takeover, but he really didnt specify this too much
national security-would get clearance from other nations, and you cant say this is wrong because he thinks the coaltion with france and germany that he voted against in the first gulf war would be sufficient for this new one, that he voted for but is against,
wants us to join the international world court so that the world has a say in domestic policy in the states, has voted to cut spending numerous times
economy-a tax cut for middle class translates to a tax raise for someone, thus leftist, any tax raise period is leftist, and yes i know the first pres bush raised taxes, he didnt have to, plus kerry has voted over 200 times to raise taxes
