Is this not already the case? I assume seafood already gets inspected by the FDA.

Well, this also covers foreign seafood, and helps prevent importers from cherry-picking certain ports.

I think DF just sits at home giggling uncontrollably that he got a bill to the Senate floor about "clean clams". Tongue

Sorry, second glass of scotch tonight.

Seems like a useless measure, really. I hope that Atlasia already inspects their seafood before its sold. If we don't, then we have some serious problems...I want my clams clean!

Not quite, though I'm rather fond of the name. Tongue

Anywho, this is a genuine concern: Seafood is a delicacy in many parts of Atlasia. With the likelihood that more foreign goods will be hitting the market, this is something we should address.

Very true, but my question still stands. Don't we already have laws for this kind of thing on the books via the FDA?

Probably, but I say we support this measure to be sure. Better redundancy than food poisoning. Tongue

There are existing laws, but not enough has been done about foreign imports - increased funding and penalties on ports with lax restrictions would help remedy this. Spoiled fish/clams could effect anything from families to small restaurants buying/serving seafood products.

If no one has anymore feedback, amendments, or what-not, could this be brought to a vote?

I stand with you, Dallas. There's nothing worse than dank, musty clams. Hopefully this bill will ensure they are all fresh smelling and their juices sweet to the taste!

EDIT: oops, didn't see bgwah's vote change to nay.

This bill has the votes to pass. Senators have 24 hours to change their votes.

I hope the PPT will consider using his discretion to change the name of this bill before presenting it to me. Wink
