Why are you so eager to reelect that useless piece of s**t? He's only ever hurt the Democratic Party.

This race isn't over and its only 2 points, and we haven't got a poll from Rasmussen I say wait and see if it holds. I am not so eager either for Reid to be reelected.

True, but i'd rather him be in the senate than an extremist like Sharron Angle.

The thing about Angle is that she really is that crazy. She'll have about as much influence as Jim Bunning.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharron_Angle  is why. He'd lose to just about anybody else. Thank you, tea party nutjobs.

This may be one of the closest races in the cycle. Maybe NOTA will break double digits Tongue

Based on the crosstabs, Angle would win if the partisan breakdown is similar to 2004.

Harry Reid sent me an email this afternoon about how excited he was about this poll's results and then asked me for money.

Reading the Wikipedia article on her, I'm not sure which one I hate less.  Angle supports the idea of a Federal Marriage Amendment, thus, to me, making her support for the Constitution and all that just a bunch of bullsh-t.  Of course, it's not against the Constitution at all to want to amend it, but if you really believe in the spirit of federalism, same-sex marriage is something best decided by the states.

Though with Reid there's the whole health care thing.

Angle supports getting rid of the Department of Education, withdrawing from the UN, is not supportive of the PATRIOT Act or the Drug War, and was a former third-party member. In my view, that's miles ahead of Reid, regardless of what social positions she may have.

Plus Reid is pro-life and anti-gay marriage. So there's no functional difference. No "federal marriage amendment" has a snowball's chance in hell of passing. At least she acknowledges that making gay marriage illegal requires amending the constitution.

The thing about Angle is that she really is that crazy. She'll have about as much influence as Jim Bunning.

The guy who single-handedly cut off the payment of all unemployment benefits for several days?  You forget just how much power an individual senator can have; even a back-bencher like Angle would be.

So that's an endorsement of Reid? I remember you posted a picture of yourself with Reid, saying that you probably wouln't vote for him.

Well sh-t.  I guess I'll support Angle then.

A majority of Democrats are anti-gay marriage, but they know which way policy is headed in the long run and aren't fervent about it the way Angle is. Obama is nominally anti-gay marriage too, but his behavior shows nuances and compromises along the margin that make him different from, say, Gary Bauer.

Meh. In a filabuster-prone Senate where literally every vote counts, I'd take an occassional spineless Democrat like Reid over a tea party nutter like Angle any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Or indeed, over about every prominent member of the NV GOP, as the ideological differences between anyone I can think of and Angle are rather minimal. Though compared to say Ensign or Gibbons I'll admit the ratio of sleaze to crazy varies somewhat.

People make a lot of fuss about how ineffective Reid is, but the fact it is, he's had an almost impossible job and has been fairly successful, passing all the major pieces of legislation Obama has asked him to pass.

That was before the primary, when I was tilting towards None Of These Candidates.  Then Angle came along, and now I have no choice but to vote for Reid, and encourage others to do so as well (thus breaking my long-standing pledge to not discuss politics in the real world).

My sentiments exactly.
