Al Smith/Theodore Bilbo

vs

Calvin Coolidge/Charles Dawes

America wins either way, but who do they select?

Coolidge/Dawes-426

Smith/Bilbo-105

Smith does a little bit better than RL, but not much. But, I think Coolidge would pick another VP probably Hoover. But, i will go with the scenario.

Coolidge hated Dawes. He would've at least tried for a different Vice President.

I also consider Bilbo an unlikely pick considering that he had just become Governor, although perhaps I am wrong. I'd still go with Smith/Robinson.

Well, he did serve a previous term as Governor for 4 years, from 1916-1920.

I do remember reading a bit about Coolidge hating Dawes, but couldn't find anything about it on wikipedia, so I thought I had confused that with Hoover/Curtis.

Coolidge holds onto Massachusetts and Rhode Island, but his Yankee twang is too much for some Southerners, allowing Smith to win some outer Southern states.

Coolidge would landslide, much like Hoover did. At that stage in history, the only way Smith would be able to win would be if he won the nomination in 1932 to go against Hoover. Unfortunate, sure, but at least America still wins in this scenario.

Coolidge wins everything Hoover won in RL. In addition, he wins AL, MA, and RI.

Why not Massachusetts? Coolidge was a fairly popular governor there and Hoover barely lost it in real life.

I said Coolidge wins everything Hoover won plus Massachusetts, Alabama, and Rhode Island. Last time I checked MA stands for Massachusetts.
