America would be a much more liberal place if we had racial homogenaity. It is the fear of "other" that makes us so conservative.

Not necessarily. Many people are conservative on issues like abortion and economic policy, which isn't related to race.

You don't think economic policy isn't related to race? Seriously?

It's not supposed to be related to race right now, even though there are traces of America's racial past in today's economic climate. For instance, blacks and Latinos are poorer than whites on average due to past racial discrimination laws. However, we are trying to become a post-racial society right now, and thus future (as in the long-run) economic policy will likely not be related to race.

It would be more conservative, but it wouldn't be as Republican as some of you seem to think. Just throwing a few thoughts out there, but if there were no minorities in this country:

1) I highly doubt that whites in the Deep South would vote 85% Republican
2) The country as a whole may have a tendency to lean Republican, but every so often there would be a "change" election, in which a conservative President is unpopular and so a Democratic president would be elected, etc.

To be honest, once I think about it further, the U.S. could look more like Europe if it was only white, both culturally and politically.

There would be no Motown music, no black gospel music, no black blues music, some of which I rather like.

On the positive side, however, there would be no annoying black rap music.  There would then have to be a law passed banning white rap music.

Now wait a minute, if there were only whites, then slavery would never have existed! and thus the Republican party wouldn't have either...
[/quote

If the South would have still had plantations in a whites-only America, I could see the Anglo-Saxon whites enslaving the Mediterranean and Eastern European whites.

Um, why would Mediterranean and Eastern European whites immigrate to a country that would enslave them?

They wouldn't do it voluntarily. The Anglo-Saxons would bind them and force them to come over here. I think back in the Middle Ages Europeans actually enslaved one another, before they discovered the African slave trade.

No, they didn't. They had serfdom in medieval Europe, not slavery. And they would have been far better prepared to fend off attempts at forcing their enslavement than the Africans were.

Nah, it's not like Africans were invaded by whites, black people in Africa sold their war prisoners to visiting white people. Whites were just new customers in the long-lived African slave trade.

You are kind of an idiot...Have you never heard of the Scramble for Africa?

1952: Eisenhower
1956: Eisenhower
1960: Kennedy
1964: Johnson
1968: Nixon
1972: Nixon
1976: Ford
1980: Reagan
1984: Reagan
1988: Bush
1992: Clinton
1996: Clinton
2000: Bush
2004: Bush
2008: Obama

So basically the only difference is Ford wins in 1976, if I remeber correctly 1976 has the highest African-American turnout until '08.

JFK (and Truman for that matter) won the black vote overwhelmingly and also (probably) won the Latino vote as well. I'm sure the black and Latino vote allowed JFK and Truman to win their elections.

In 1960, AA's were split 50-50 when it came to party affliation.

What's your source for that?

According to the JFK Presidential Library, JFK won the black vote by a large margin:

Many older blacks might have voted for JFK while remaining registered Republicans, since they might have registered in their youth before the Great Depression began.
