During Clinton's second term the 22nd amendment has an accident and dies. Clinton decides to run again in 2000, Republicans nominate McCain. Who wins?

With McCain hammering the President on culture war issues such as the affair and the President's pardons, he improves significantly in the South, but cannot overcome.

Bill Clinton already blew it by embarrassing us with an intern in the oval office, renting rooms in the white house to foreigners in exchange for campaign money, misunderstanding Waco as a cult, not responding to the USS Cole or our other embassy in Africa, and not taking seriously the intelligence reports for the Oklahoma City bombing. You'd have to repeal the amendment about CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT FIRST. I don't think Clinton could've won again anyways and I know that he was popular in 2000, but the GOP wasn't hammering him on all of these things either. Seeing this while eating breakfast or talking about your day with your family before an election is different.

Bill Clinton's approval ratings were one of the few Presidents that stayed about 50% for most of his term. He left office popular.

Doubtful Clinton would keep Gore for a third time, and doubtful Gore would want to play second fiddle for yet another four years.

America finally tires of the Clinton sleaze and scandal.

A clear win for McCain and Dole.
