Why did Blaine win it by less than 1%? I mean, even though Michigan was a soldily GOP state back then, Cleveland won 47% of the vote there and came very close to winning the state. Why did this occur? Did the Prohibition Party take away a lot of votes from Blaine, or was there another reason?

Anyone? I wonder if the prices of farm goods declined between 1880 and 1884, thus causing Cleveland to do really well in Michigan.
