Let's say Mitt Romney decides to run for Ted Kennedy's Senate Seat, beating out Scott Brown in the primary. How does the race turn out? I'm guessing Coakley would win.

Mitt dazzles the electorate and romps to victory, leaving the hapless Coakley in the dust.

He would have won but that would screw his 2012 campaign up. Obama would easily put things in bills to cause conflict between Romney's state and Romney's party. I would do the same thing if someone was planning on running against me. Also, it's hilarious that the Massachusetts democrats in 2004 passed a law stating that the state had to have a special election to replace a senator who leaves office. I agree with that but it was only done so that Mitt Romney could not take the seat or appoint a Republican in 2004 should Kerry have become president. In 2009 some proposed changing it back to the governor appointing the new senator. That's politics though I'll have to admit. Good work Scott Brown!

Without that perfect storm, we wouldn't have had a Senator Brown.

Besides, you think MA's politicians actually give a damn about the integrity of our constitution?

Yes, and very easily.
