Tmth wins due to his social conservativism.  Libertas is far too extreme for the average American to accept as a viable alternative and those who do vote for him come equally from both sides of the aisle.

Libertas would barely win, due to massive vote splitting in the Democratic party, despite Libertas winning less than 40% of Independents.
